There are 12 subjects which build on each other. You’ll complete the ICB Financial Accounting: Foundation Level of this programme (and achieve the National Certificate: Bookkeeping) after successfully passing just four subjects. This Financial Accountant Course is for anybody, keep studying and you’ll progress through the Intermediate levels to the final and most Advanced Level.

Entrance requirements

You need the following to study this course.

  • Grade 10 (Std 8) or equivalent, at least 16 years of age.
  • No prior accounting knowledge needed.
  • Students have to register separately with the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) as well as with Aldes Training Academy.
  • Aldes Training Academy assists all students with their ICB registrations, at no extra charge.

What you will learn

  • This National Certificate programme is the first step or designation in the ICB Financial Accounting Certification Programme. Once qualified, the Junior Bookkeeper is able to complete all the functions of the Accounts Clerk, Debtors Clerk, Creditors Clerk and Payroll Clerk and becomes an integral member of the accounts department in any organization.
  • This National Certificate programme includes a study of business communication, numeracy, basic bookkeeping to trial balance, basic conditions of employment, SARS registrations and submissions, payroll and computerised bookkeeping.
