Entrance requirements

You need the following to study this course.

  • Must be at least 17 of age and must have passed Grade 11, or equivalent qualification. Kindly Contact ALDES Training for advice.
  • If you have not passed Grade 11 you must at least be 21. Kindly contact ALDES Training Academy for assistance.
  • Students have to register separately with the Institute of Tourism and Hospitality (ITH) as well as with ALDES Training Academy.
  • ALDES Training Academy assists all students with their ITH registrations, at no extra charge
  • You must be able to speak, read and write English

    This unit aims to introduce students to the tourism and hospitality industry. Students will understand the types and characteristics of different hotel and food service providers. Students will also understand the roles and functions of different delivery channels operating within the industry and will be able to gain an insight into how the industry has developed and is likely to develop in future.

  • Understand the role of tour-related functions: tour operator; travel agent and partners; tour guide

  • This course, taken with ITH Essentials of Human Resources & Business Computing; Essentials of Marketing and Customer relations in Tourism & Hospitality and Essentials of Tourism and Hospitality Operations leads to the Level 3 Diploma in Tourism & Hospitality
  • When you complete the full course, you will be awarded a Level 3 Diploma in Tourism and Hospitality from ITH
